When the Winsen Museum Association was founded, it was written into the constitution that Plattdeutsch (the North German dialect) should not be forgotten. In 1996 three keen members set up regular Plattdeutsch meetings.
This social group meets during the winter from October to April every second Wednesday of the month at 7.30pm in the cosy parlour of the Groode Hus museum building. Stories are told, enjoyed and discussed. Sometimes Lower German folk songs are sung accompanied on the accordion. At every meeting, of course, snacks and drinks are available.
New Plattdeutsch speakers, as well as standard German speakers, are always welcome! Please get in touch with Annette through the Museum Office.
