The hay barn dating from around 1840 is a three-post building. It originally stood at the Lüßmann farm in Hornbostel (5 km to the south west of Winsen).
The building was dismantled in 1984 and rebuilt in 1987.It is interesting to note that the wood from this building had already been used for a previous older construction. It now houses gardening and agricultural tools along with sowing, planting and harvesting equipment, and machinery to deal with the harvested produce, weigh, store and transport it.
Descriptive panels explain the individual items which were made primarily of metal and natural materials. There were mechanical devices which made the hard physical work in the fields and on the farm somewhat easier.
